Join us for our monthly record party. All are welcome, and you don’t need to bring a record – cuz we got lots for you to choose from! Free event but donations for the space are always welcome. We host this gathering monthly in hopes that bringing music lovers together will create a strong community, and provide a space for people to gather who enjoy listening to music of all genres with other music lovers.

*We’ve got a little something new for BYOV …we are going to showcase one artist at each event! We know how hard it is to be an artist and we’d like to give them a space to thrive! Get excited for BYOV, meeting new friends, local art and cooler weather.

I’ve been a fan of Worldview on WBEZ for as long as I can remember listening to public radio.  Jerome McDonald, the host, always tells stories about what’s happening around the world in a way that makes the often complicated news easier to digest. He also has lots of stories about people and organizations in this country that are concerned with humanitarian crisis both locally and internationally. In highlighting these groups one realizes how many small but crucial non-profits are fighting for the basic needs of people near and far.

One such group that we learned about that we hope Worldview might feature as part of its Global Activism series,  is Asteroidea Health Alliance. The founder is a local Lincoln Square resident who we met in the shop a few months ago. I won’t go into all the details now, but we decided to host an event together for Giving Tuesday*, where we choose an organization and donate 20% of all sales that day to the project. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving, you can shop online, at the store, or come for our evening event November 27 from 6:30PM – 8:30PM at Esquina to learn more about the organization, meet its founder, see a short film about the project and then shop a collection of handmade jewelry form the region. All sales will go directly to Asteroidia Health Alliance and 20% of all Nomadic Ant sales that day will also be donated directly to this project.

Learn more about this important Northern Uganda Medical Mission, and be part of what we hope will be a yearly event to raise money for important projects like these around the world.

*Giving Tuesday was started by the United Nations Foundation and it brings together companies and organizations from around the world to raise millions for charities.
